NICOLE DAVIES

Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist

Hello

Welcome to SLC Therapy, an Independent Speech and Language Therapy service, based in Halifax, West Yorkshire. Founded in 2025 by Nicole Davies (Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist), SLC Therapy specialises in offering tailored support to children, their families and education providers, ensuring that every individual can thrive in their communication journey.

Nicole primarily works with school-aged children and young people (Reception to Key Stage 4), as well as the key adults in their lives – including parents, teachers, and support staff – to help children with speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN) thrive at home, in school, and beyond.

Experienced

I studied Speech and Language Therapy at  Newcastle University, graduating in 2010. I have over 14 years of experience working in a range of clinical and educational settings. Alongside my independent practice, I work part-time in the NHS as a Highly Specialist Therapist.

I have gained additional training in approaches such as: Intensive Interaction, VERVE child Interaction, Active Listening for Active Learners and smiLE therapy. I am also ELKAN Tutor trained.

Empowering

I want to give children and the adults around them the confidence and tools to succeed. I provide practical advice and strategies that can be used in everyday situations, giving families and schools the tools they need to support long-term progress.

Team work

Teamwork is key to helping a child develop their communication skills. I partner with families, education staff, and other professionals to create a clear and consistent plan. By working together, we ensure everyone feels supported and confident in making a positive impact.

Quality

I am committed to delivering high-quality support that meets a child’s unique needs. I use proven methods that are adapted to fit each child’s needs, making sure every session helps them progress in a meaningful way.

Special Interests

With extensive experience working with children of all ages, I am particularly passionate about supporting school-aged children (Reception – Key Stage 4) with SLCN, working alongside schools and education staff to create communication-friendly learning environments, ensuring every child with SLCN gets the support they need to thrive.

My passion for empowering children, families and educators drives SLC Therapy’s approach. By collaborating with schools, teachers, and families, I help create long-term, meaningful communication support that makes a real impact on children’s daily interactions, wellbeing, learning, and overall confidence in both school and everyday life.
